Improved sporting facilities for Droitwich Spa

By signing this petition, we can demonstrate to the Town Council and Wychavon District Council the support we have to improve the sporting facilities for our community.

The King George V Community Interest Company, a joint venture between Droitwich Spa Sports clubs, has been collaborating for 3 years to significantly improve the sporting facilities for the town.

Located at King George V Playing Fields, Briar Mill (behind the Sports Centre) we believe, as do Wychavon District Council, Worcs FA, and the Playing Pitch strategy developed by WDC, that this is the best site to achieve the aim of supporting all clubs and sport generally in Droitwich Spa, albeit on a landfill site which increases the cost. We have achieved a lot so far but the overall goal was to work with Wychavon District Council to improve the playing pitches and the development of a 3G Community sports pitch, and modernised facilities.

We thanks you for your past support, BUT WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. The national standards for outdoor sports pitches are recognised by 75% of local authorities in the country. With the INCREASING POPULATION of Droitwich Spa and the INCREASED REVENUE THAT BRINGS we will soon have only about 40% of the playing pitches that we should have, which its totally inadequate.

Despite many meetings with Wychavon District Council who allegedly support the project we believe that progress is too slow and they are prevaricating over the cost. We therefore need to petition the council demonstrating the community needs and support for our campaign
