I just sent an email to the SurfCupSportsPark which runs the soccer & lacrosse tournaments for thousands of kids at the polo fields directly across the street. I suggested it was probably not a great idea to have thousands of homeless directly across the street from hundreds of kids.
I encouraged them to support the petition - if you want to do the same , here is a link to their contact page. http://surfcupsports.com/contact/

This is not a way to address and resolve homelessness in San Diego.

I do not want to destroy our community. For consequences of what could result if we bus in thousands of homeless just look what’s happening in San Francisco. It’s a mess! If we were to bus in the homeless they would never leave. These types of decisions have long-term consequences. Please do not allow this proceed.

We don’t need a mega homeless structure in Del Mar. I don’t understand how that is a good sound solution.

L.A. needs to stop sending us their problems, and the Fairgrounds need to act responsibly and not sell us out. Already crime has gone up since Mayor (Blakespear) of Encinitas, went against her residents and accepted the HEAP grant for a Parking lot. The homeless are brought here from L.A. and beyond being promised the Lot. But Leichtag doesn’t let them in b/c they don’t want drug addicts, criminals, & mentally ill in there lot which is what they signed up for and what the vast majority of homeless are. This is why there’s never more than a handful of cars in the Lot. But Leichtag/JFS gladly take all the money, which is one of many reasons these programs are a major scam. Everyone involved in them is profiting off the homeless, except the homeless. All of these homeless end up on our streets, after the scammers scoop up the money. Even the few that are let in the Lot don’t stay there. They’d rather live on the beaches and streets for free than in a lot that has rules. They like living in an upscale town that we had to work our butts off to afford. Our grown kids who work hard and have good jobs can’t even afford Encinitas. It’s not fair that Homeless & Van Lifers come here & crash for free & trash our town. People need to live w/in their means.

I believe that this is an ill-conceived attempt to solve a problem that is not in Del Mar or North County. Opening up places like this will bring homeless from around the west coast. This deal was also negotiated without much if any public input.
