Reaching our Year-End Goal of 200 Signatories Strong...
Dec 14, 2019 —
We just received another signature (187th) to this petition to bring a direct-passenger rail stop to Madison, including a connection to Chicago Metra at Fox Lake.
The merits of the project are clear, including reducing congestion and emissions and opening traveling rooms of train cars with unfurling views of historic, scenic lake country as another dynamic, carbon-neutral link between the Madison area and Chicagoland.
Based on personal observation, I can say more work is being done at the historic depot in downtown Madison as well as on the rail line to Chicago Metra in 2018.
The Transportation budget is being decided for the coming year in Washington, DC and the run up to the holidays is a perfect time for us to leverage the work being done on existing infrastructure for more work and better financing and grant awards in the coming year with the New Year's resolution of beginning service for petitioners as well as thousands of area residents that would certainly ride it if they built it.
New, smoother rail-track filling adorns southeast passage from historic depot in photo at the top of this page.
