From The Truth Side of Things

At the age of eighteen I was ripped from society for a crime that I did not commit in Alton, IL. Three months after the shooting and murder occurred, I became a suspect. I was arrested, hit, and questioned for several hours in a coercive environment that eventually lead to me falsely confessing to the murder and later pleading guilty out of fear of the death penalty. The attorney that I had at the time was pushing against me. I was given 32 years at 100%. This was the justice for me for living in the projects, hanging in the projects and being a poor black man with no criminal record as an adult to have the experience to deal with the tactics that lead to my incarceration. Now, for over 20 plus years, I’ve fought tirelessly to restore the innocence that was taken, by filing several petitions and that I relinquish during the mauled reality of equal justice for all. Here I now stand with multiple pieces of evidence that leads to my innocence as well as my brothers who were also forced into this case due to coercive tactics by the Alton Police Department and Madison County Illinois Prosecuting Office. Living death is real in the eyes of justice, especially when you don’t have any significance in your community, nor amongst the whole body of society.
Many nights I’ve cried out within my pillow that one day soon these shallow cries will be heard.
Finally, my cries have been heard and I’ve received the assistance I’ve longed for from the Downstate Innocence Project in Springfield, IL. This group of people are my hope, and I simply just ask for your help in anyway to bring forth the truth of my innocence, support of my innocence, and that of my two brothers who still carry this burden of a failed justice system by signing this petition of Hope for Freedom in the spirit of innocence. Thank you!!
