Luke Balika started this petition to Senator Richard J. Durbin and

I come from the state of Illinois. And I've been to chicago many times, and everytime I visit, the homeless population on the streets makes me loose faith in our system. I ask of two main things: ban all anti-homelessness architecture, and help the homeless population. That architecture is completly inhumane, and all it does it attempt to cover up the very real problem of poverty in the state and specifically Chicago. It is just plain cruel and disturbing, and not how you treat your neighbors. I also ask that we increase funding to homeless shelters to help get people back on track in life, and help them get jobs. Not only will this be good for the sake of humanity, but adding this many people back into the workforce will boost the economy. I added many Senators and House members that represent the area. This is an issue that needs addressing, and not one we can keep turning away from. People are dying everyday on the streets, and it's about time we start treating them with care and respect. If you read all this, thank you very much. Homelessness has no business existing is the country that so many claim to be "the richest country on earth".
