Why this petition matters

Started by Kelsey Raicht

Urban Outfitters are mistreating their workers and making them work "on-call", which means if they are contacted at the last minute to go to work they have to go in. Also, the workers receive no additional pay or benefits for their hard work. Lastly, in 2012, Urban Outfitters remained silent about their use for Uzbekistan cotton. The government of Uzbekistan was removing millions of children from school to work to make this cotton. They forced them to pick cotton during the harvest season. Urban Outfitters did not address the forced child labor in Uzbekistan or ensured that they do not use Uzbek cotton.

By boycotting Urban Outfitters products, we are helping these workers fight for their rights and basic needs since they are not being upheld properly. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), everyone is guaranteed the right to desirable work and to join trade unions (23), rest and leisure (24), and the right to education (26). All of these laws are not being upheld to the workers at Urban Outfitters, which is why this petition should be signed and brought to Richard Hayne, the CEO of Urban Outfitters.

Thank you all for signing and making a difference!
