History Channel - Apologize for fake Amelia Earhart documentary
The Issue
On July 9, 2017 the History Channel broadcast “Amelia Earhart – The Lost Evidence.” The centerpiece of the two-hour documentary was a photo purported to show Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan in Japanese custody. Within two days of the show’s airing, the photograph was exposed as being from a book published two years before the flyers disappeared. In response, the History Channel issued a statement: "HISTORY has a team of investigators exploring the latest developments about Amelia Earhart and we will be transparent in our findings. Ultimately, historical accuracy is most important to us and our viewers.”
We, the viewing public, demand the promised transparency and call upon the History Channel to broadcast an apology to the 4.32 million trusting viewers who were given fake history.
