There is loads of litter around Oakland Technical High School and nothing is being done about the source of the problem: students littering. The school has few janitorial staff so their response to this issue would likely be hiring more. This treats the symptoms of the problem, not the cause. People will continue to litter unless punishment or restorative action is introduced. Students seen littering should receive detention of picking up trash for a lunch period. There are ample trash cans around the campus so there is no excuse to litter. Besides, littering is illegal and bad for the environment so students need to curb this habit before getting in trouble with law enforcement post graduation.
