Why this petition matters

Started by End State-Wide Testing

Statewide testing should not be a requirement for the being of the pandemic. We should not have State-Wide Testing during the pandemic because some of the students that are in education and trying to learn are online. Not all students pay attention or learn the material that they have to learn online. Some students have a hard time sitting in place and sitting behind a computer all day learning. I have talked to a lot of students and most say that they have a hard time learning online. If the students do badly on the state-wide testing this could affect their future. For example, if a student is taking Algebra 1 in middle school and fail the EOC the first time, they will have to take it again until they pass it before they graduate to high school or they will not be able to graduate. Some of the knowledge that the students learned in Algebra 1 this year when they take it again that knowledge may be lost because even if you fail the EOC you will still have to move on to the math class above that. Therefore, unless you study consistently throughout the next year then you will lose that knowledge from Algebra 1 year after year, failing and failing. The teachers cannot see the students unless the students are showing their camera so the teachers do not know what the students are doing. The students could be playing video games, watching TV, or talking to friends instead of paying attention to what their teacher is teaching them. All of these reasons show that there should be no State-Wide testing this year.
