No one should be put at increased risk of serious illness or death just because Rice wants to turn a profit. That kind of reasoning is selfish and dangerous. I fully support the students who are bringing these problems to light and attempting to hold the administration responsible for their myopic decisions.

Opening and placing kids at risk is not the right way to go.

i understand the university is doing the best they can. they tried their best and unfortunately it is not going to keep the students and faculty safe from harm. while the rice experience is not the same remotely, unfortunately we all need to make some temporary sacrifices for the moment out of concern for health and safety. i believe in the student body and the administrations to have the resources and creativity to hold makeup events and safe, distant alternatives that we’d miss out on. good luck to the current students, faculty, and administration and may they find a safe way to compromise and proceed during these difficult times.

The student testimony is documented and appropriately expressed. I hope that the Faculty Senate will hold another Plenary session to discuss this failure to care.
