On July 22nd my family became victims of a traumatic crime, and we are now victims of an injustice system. Just after 9pm on this Thursday evening a young man approached our homes on foot and began firing a gun. Outside the home was, my mother-in-law, her husband, my sister in law, & my fiancé Angelo. My mother-in-law and her husband were shot . Out of instinct Angelo ran in the house, grabbed his mothers, legal & registered gun, and reemerged from the house and shot back in self defense. Angelo has an unrelated felony drug charge from almost 3 years ago. Since then he has stayed out of trouble, gotten his commercial drivers license, started up his own tow truck business and have since expanded our family with a new baby girl. He is the sole provider for our family. I do not work due to no childcare for our 2 children ages 4 & 10 months. He is not the same person he use to be nor does he have problems with anyone who would do this. He is an all around family man, a provider, a protector. The police have not caught the evil person that did this. But instead they have charged Angelo with possession of a firearm, prohibited-, carrying a pistol without license or permit & firing in a compact area and violating probation. WE ARE THE VICTIMS!!!! My fiancé is now facing jail time because he protected and defended his family! If he did not do what he did, that man could have walked up and killed all four of them. Had it not been for the person shooting at them, Angelo would not have had possession of a gun nor would he have fired in a compact area. Therefore he would not have violated probation.

 In our eyes my fiancé is a hero, in the eyes of the justice system he is criminal with a record and couldn’t possibly be a victim.

We are asking for all new charges against Angelo be dropped. As well as not charging him with violating probation. 

self-defense is not a crime. This man should be with his family. This man should be free.
