Sarah Edwards started this petition to Rhondda Cynon Taff Council

Residents of Trehafod are concerned about the increase in dangerous speeding traffic through our small village.  Damage to personal vehicles is happening regularly, and we feel it is only a matter of time before a person is hurt on our road. Trehafod has one main road running through the village.  Coedcae Road residents regularly have their cars damaged, and larger accidents have happened on Trehafod Road, including a car crashing into a house.

Our most important priority is the safety of the children in our local primary school.  Many of the children have to cross the main road to get home, and we have no official crossing point.  We also have a major tourist attraction (The Rhondda Heritage Park) which increases traffic, along with regular buses passing through and a train station right opposite the school.  The increase in the number of speeding vehicles and crashes must be addressed before a pedestrian is hurt.

We are petitioning for the local council to do a thorough survey of our road.  We will be demanding that traffic surveys are carried out at the locations which have the most reported incidents so that traffic calming and safe crossing measures can be put into place.  Please sign to help us protect our community before inevitable tragedy.  The council feels they can wait until someone gets hurt - but this is unacceptable.
