Why this petition matters

Started by Andrew Johanson

There has been an application submitted to the Cecil County Planning commission by PLL Corporation to rezone parcel 393. This is the property that sits on the corner of Lums Rd. and Marysville Rd. with the white cottage style home formerly owned by the Huber's. PLL corporation currently owns parcel 393 as well as parcel 181 which contains the empty yellow home on the corner of Lums Rd. and MD Rt. 272. Parcel 181 is zoned as BG (For business purposes) while parcel 393 is zoned as ST (Suburban Transition). PLL corporation is proposing to rezone parcel 393 as BG in order to have enough property to build a convenience retail store. However, this would cause an increase in commuter traffic along Marysville Rd. which is currently deteriorating due to Semi-tractor trailers commuting from Carter's Lumber yard, heavy Amtrak equipment on Peninsula drive, as well as beer trucks traveling to Liquor World which also located on the corner of Lums Rd. and MD Rt. 272. All these vehicles commute on Marysville Rd. from Peninsular Dr. as well as normal commuter traffic. In addition to increased traffic and deteriorating roads, there would be an increase in water run-off due to more paved surfaces. If you oppose the proposed rezoning, Marysville road residents would greatly appreciate if you could take a moment to sign this petition so we can submit it to both the Cecil County Planning commission as well as the Cecil County Council. Thank You!!
