Here’s the problem; many people don’t know until they learn the hard way and this situation comes up all the time in the spring; mama raccoon makes a den in someone’s attic and the homeowners relocate her not realizing she has babies. Then the babies are crying and hungry. No rehabber is allowed to take them in, in this particular situation because they’re considered babies of a nuisance animal. The babies suffer unnecessarily in one of two ways; either they starve to death or the homeowners are left to raise them illegally. We can’t control people not being aware of the law but we can control how the law affects animals in situations like this. 
This law needs to be revised to allow concessions to take into account that this is a huge problem which causes suffering for many animals. I volunteered with rehab by taking classes and workshops but have decided to be involved in a different way. People who care about the needless suffering of animals want this law to be improved upon.
