This petition is addressed to Upwork CEO Hayden Brown.

I am a freelancer on Upwork - and your platform is my only livelihood. And there are hundreds like me. I am willing to bet that most freelancers are concerned about what our government is doing and do not agree with it (because those who support the current regime in the Russian Federation probably do not even know about the existence of your platform).
I absolutely understand the reasons why it was decided to restrict access to your site for freelancers of the Russian Federation - the main thing is that part of our taxes goes to continue hostilities against Ukraine.

Due to the new laws adopted in our country, we cannot even donate money to help Ukrainian citizens (for this, criminal prosecution is underway).

I have a proposal that most of my colleagues will approve - introduce an additional tax for all Russian citizens, which you in turn will donate to Ukraine. I assure you those who support the current regime in the Russian Federation will never agree to pay this tax - so we can help freelancers from Russia and provide humanitarian assistance to the citizens of Ukraine with your hands.
