A Sea Mills Community Project is in the process of razing a significant area of bramble and wild vegetation from an un-spoilt wildlife site for "allotments and community garden".
An article from the project says it was a disused area however it was used by many creatures until the project took over. The new and increasing presence of people, and the destruction of the vegetation at the secluded site has displaced and disrupted the wildlife. Part of its value was because it wasn't accessed by people.
Sea Mills is a listed "green suburb" and conservation area, however there's little reference to the needs of local wildlife. It's time to draw attention to the needs of wildlife in relation to our small spaces.
