I, Teri "Yaki" Cahoon, 30-month resident of Hartford County CT, testify that I am a law-abiding citizen of sound mind and both capable and willing to parent my children including two adopted sons and my biological daughter. I testify that marriage was used to exploit and extort me. I testify that I was used as free childcare for many years, lied to for the purpose of adoption, publicly praise and privately degraded, manipulated into conceiving a child and still have the original birth certificate showing me as the only parent (biological). I testify that in 2016, I was coerced into signing a document to sell the marital home before I was allowed to live with my family for only two months in the new state of residence where I was ordered out of my home, that such timeframe was all that I had to secure housing and job after more than 6 years as a full-time, homeschooling parent (foster, adoptive, and biological). I testify that I still have the original lease showing my name as a legal resident. I testify that for 22 months until court in Virginia and the 10 months that followed, I never put myself or my children in any physical or psychological danger, that I never neglected them, that I never abused them, and that I have 5 letters of testimony from credible witnesses who have known me between 10 and 16 years who testify to the historical facts herein. I testify that to the best of my abilities and to my financial demise, I have continued to fight for Constitutional rights as a parent and have complied with the orders of the Virginia court system who allowed hearsay and slander in their courts in July 2018 and 2019 and used defamation of character to harm my children who were moved 7 hours away to CT. I testify that my mental stability is not questioned except by the other party after court-sanctioned libel discriminated against my freedom of religion in the form of public prayer. I testify that I still had overnight privileges with my children until the Viriginia courts learned that I was moving to CT to be near them and begged the courts to help one party whose traumatic past and recent behaviors concerned me for the younger children's safety. I testify that I have lived in 3 states and 4 households in the past 5 years to accommodate the other party and live indefinitely under duress due to the coercive control and ongoing disrespect and disregard. I request the courts of CT please provide asylum to me and my children, protecting us from constant relocation and increasing alienation between us and from extended families. I will have 5 more letters from current and local clergy and Veterans Administration stating that my character is recommended, and my testimony is true. Please restore custody to me as the mother who will not move the children away from the other party nor seek any monetary support nor diminish below 50% the time children spend within each household.
