Super Town without a Superstreet

The above video is from NCDOT Communications. The Union County section of Old Monroe Road starts around 2 minutes and 40 seconds into the video.
It is clear that Old Monroe Road in Indian Trail, NC has a traffic problem. As you can see, the superstreet design is a four-lane highway with wide medians and large “bulb” turn outs for u-turns. At current intersections with lights, residents will no longer be able to turn left directly, but instead will have to turn right to eventually turn left.
Before proceeding with the current superstreet design to address this situation, we ask that town officials and the NCDOT reconsider and return to the originally-discussed solution of a four-lane highway design that would reduce the impact on the residential nature of this corridor. This change would be consistent with the revised plans presented by the NCDOT on July 31, 2017, for the Matthews, NC section of this project. Furthermore, since the Town of Indian Trail is contributing $10 million to this project, we should have input in the type of road we will have. We are signing this petition to voice our concern over the proposed superstreet on Old Monroe Road in Indian Trail.
