We observed the poor conditions of the playing surfaces at the Van Saun Park Tennis courts.

Almost all of the six courts that can be used now have cracks. There are 6 additional courts that are locked off and not available for use. Resurfacing of all these 12 courts would certainly make the courts safer and more enjoyable for the players. Residents of Bergen County pay among the highest taxes in the country; tennis is a healthy and popular means of recreation and maintenance of health for many of these taxpayers. In addition to resurfacing the courts, investment in floodlights would greatly extend usage of these courts for residents, especially for those whose working hours mean they may not be able to use the courts in the daytime. There is potential for return on investment as county residents use these courts for recreation.
