So many year round residents of Nantucket are facing the challenge of housing and having to move off the island because of this issue. It is unfair to residents who have been here for so long and work so hard but they cannot keep up with the outrageous rates of housing. 

Many teachers on Nantucket are also facing this issue of housing and have to move off island as well, this contributes to the shortage of teachers on Nantucket. 

We are 8th graders and want to make an impactful change on this island and help our community face this issue. Therefore, we have taken time to research about this topic and found that Boston has made a law about short-term rentals and how they can be restricted so that residents are able to still have homes. 

Nantucket also has an issue with many wealthy people buying houses and renting them out to tourists at immense prices which aren't affordable to the average working person and to year-round residents of Nantucket.
