Get fish farms out of BC!
The salmon farming industry is contaminating the BC coast with the most dangerous pollutants known - viruses. Wild salmon, herring and everything that depends on them from whales to people are being impacted. This is a dirty industry that does not belong the ocean.
One third of the BC salmon farming industry is using the territorial waters of the Musgamagw Dzawada'enuxw without their permission. While government maintains that First Nations support salmon farming, this Nation is determined to cleanse their territorial waters of this industry.
In 2015, the Federal Court of Canada ruled that transferring diseased salmon into the ocean pen farms is a violation of the Fisheries Act, and yet there is no evidence that this dirty practice has stopped.
In the spring of 2015, sea lice from salmon farms killed up to 40% of the young salmon leaving the rivers of the Musgamagw Dzawada'enuxw.
There is a federal bill to legislate removal of salmon farms from the ocean, and a petition to tell Canada's MPs that they must vote for this bill.
There is no reason to sacrifice wild salmon, bears, whales, the economy and violate Canada's responsibility to respect the First Peoples Nation to Nation to serve foreign shareholders.
The fight is on for life on earth!

Dear Premier Christy Clark:
As the landlord of the salmon farming industry, you must rescind the salmon farm Licences of Occupation in British Columbia. Wild salmon are much too important to put at risk for a dirty foreign industry that refuses to contain its waste and polluting the ocean with disease, putting wild salmon and herring at critical risk!
