Doug Ford assaulted Toronto's democracy when without warning, in the middle of the 2018 election, he unilaterally slashed the wards in half.  This threw the election into chaos, forcing candidates to abruptly change their strategy and doubling the area they needed to cover, while campaign materials then had the wrong ward number and were made obsolete. 

Council had approved 47 wards, which would have balanced the number of residents per councillor, taking into account future population growth.  Then, without any mention in his campaign, and no consultation of the city or residents, Ford slashed council down to 25 seats.  Now councillors' offices strain to serve double the number of people, and Toronto residents have the least municipal representation for a city our size in the world.
