Idalio Yan started this petition to The NY State legislature and

Recently on October 3, 2018, a bill was signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo to get yet another bridge with a historic name stripped off!  The Bear Mountain Bridge was recently renamed the "Purple Hearts Veterans Memorial Bridge" without public say.

Though I do understand honoring veterans is a good thing, it shouldn't be at the cost of history just like with the recent name change of the Tappan Zee Bridge to "Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge" I believe this is just a waste of taxpayer money to do this and to change the road signs without any public say.

This did not come as a surprise for me as I knew something would happen. My question here is "Why is New York State obsessed with renaming structures?" I believe that question should range though everyone's heads. like why, with Triborough, Brooklyn-Battery, Queensboro......what's next? The Geroge Washington? The Newburgh-Beacon? The Whitestone, Thongs Neck and Lincoln? What is up with Cuomo and his corrupt methods to get historically name structures named after people who have no connections with any of those structures. Why not focus on building new structures and naming it after them, not current ones!

No matter if your, Democrat, Republican or neither, if you want history restored and and not liking Cuomo's corrupt politics then I'd encourage you sign this petition. This is not about who to honor, it's all about preserving history.

Shout out to Monroe Mann for his hard dedication the Tappan Zee petition! hope your're proud following your footsteps.
