We urge the Office of the President, Eskom, Cogta end Govan Mbeki Municipality (GMM) to put an end to the continuous disruption of power in the town of Bethal and Emzinoni township, Mpumalanga. We are experiencing hours (and sometimes days) of power interruptions. The main reason given to residents is because GMM owes Eskom LARGE amounts of money, Eskom has now put a maximum demand of power usage on these areas and whenever this demand is exceeded we are loadshed. Why are the paying residents of this town being punished for the mismanagement of funds by a Municipality? This in a time of lockdown crisis? Children having to do online studying and people attempting to work from home. Furthermore the dilapidated infrastructure cannot handle these constant interruptions in power supply. We demand for this unbearable situation to be stopped by ALL parties involved and for urgent intervention into upgrading infrastructure. The WHOLE community of Bethal and Emzinoni is FED UP with this situation.
