Sanity must prevail, NZ and Australia must become a United country within.
Over 50 Yrs ago I remember being told this True kiwi could not walk on the blue green lake beached of Rotorua unless I paid. I walked it never Paid nowadays they probably would drag me off.

Only when a person or group can prove a most valid reason why they should " only have " access & ownership rights to a parcel of land or beachfront, should they be granted it; but with the proviso they pay a significantly hefty fee for it.

Beaches & foreshores belong to
" everyone ", not just a select privileged percentage of the entire population.

Hell's Bells!! Were I ever to own a portion of shore & associated sandy beach, as long as the public respected & cared for the shore-front, I wouldn't prevent the general public from using or taking a pleasant walk & enjoying the Great Outdoors.
