The public is reminded that an indictment contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If convicted, the Court must impose a reasonable sentence under federal sentencing statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

The Federal indictment, which was returned in August and unsealed this week (1/6/2016) charged MATTHEW SORENSEN, a former internal consultant for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., with five counts of wire fraud.

Sorensen, 49, of Bloomington, Ill., is scheduled to appear for arraignment at 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2016, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael T. Mason in Chicago.

Additionally, MATTHEW SORENSEN: Sorensen (Republican) 2016, is currently serving as an elected official representing District 2 of Mc Lean County in the State of Illinois and is serving as the County Board Chairman at this time.

This petition is for the good of the citizens of the State of Illinois in the County of Mc Lean that MATTHEW SORENSEN submit his resignation as the elected official immediately.

Allowing his full concentration on his defense without any of the distractions of being and serving as an elected official.

We, the undersign do not believe MATTHEW SORENSEN can continue to serve as an elected official and work effectively on the behalf of those he represents any longer due the recent circumstances.

His continuing to do so will be an on-going burden on the governing process.

That his name be removed from all the Primary and General Election ballots by his own accord for 2016.
