Resign Georgia Acosta started this petition to Former PVUSD Board President Georgia Acosta and

Georgia Acosta has done enough damage to the trust and health of the PVUSD community. Georgia violated her trust with the public when she suddenly, and without cause, fired the superintendent in the middle of a global pandemic, causing a delay in teacher & staff vaccinations and thus a delay in safely opening our classrooms. To this day, Georgia refuses to provide a reason to the public or even to Michelle Rodriguez for the termination. She racked up $16,000 in debt from an attorney she hired as board president, something she did not have the authority to do, to aid in her personal vendetta. When the community wanted to voice their concerns, Georgia tried to use her position and this unauthorized attorney to silence the public and ordered a PVUSD employee to stop reading public comment. After creating chaos and a closed session where she continued to silence the community, she was forced by board members to allow the public to speak and have their say.

It was later revealed that Georgia pre-planned this coup with this attorney, and held a meeting with him, Trustee Soto, and another community member. Without transparency she undertook individual actions exceeding the authority of board president. During this secret meeting she conspired to use budget information that showed PVUSD going into debt, and then attempted to hide information showing a balanced budget as a result of increased funding from the state. She ordered a PVUSD employee to take down information that demonstrated this balanced budget to hide this from the public and justify her termination of the superintendent  to her fellow board members and the community. When the community spoke out in force demanding transparency from the board of trustees, Georgia claimed she received death threats as her reason for reinstating the superintendent when she realized her coup attempt had failed. When the Watsonville Police Department followed up and were contacted by press, it was revealed that Georgia failed to file a police report for such a serious allegation. Is that because filing a false police report is a crime, and Georgia knew she was lying? It sure looks that way.

Georgia and her supporters say that she fights for the people and holds PVUSD administration accountable, but that is far from reality. According to records obtained from the district, Georgia Acosta has missed 26 board meetings, and a total of 32 closed session board meetings where she actually would have the opportunity to speak privately with the superintendent and hold her accountable, if that was her actual goal and motivation. She has only met with the superintendent 3 times in her 4 years on the board, and two of those "meetings" were conferences the two of them attended. If Georgia was actually addressing the concerns of the community, and holding PVUSD leaders accountable, she would be meeting with Michelle Rodriguez on a regular basis. Georgia's "accountability" is nothing more than performative gaslighting. Georgia has failed PVUSD & the community, she has violated our community's trust, leading to the board drafting a censure of her poor behavior. She has neglected her duties as a trustee, and the only way to move past this and restore trust between our community and PVUSD Board of Trustees is to put Georgia's failed leadership behind us as well. Georgia Acosta must resign, and spare this community the pain, effort, and costs of recalling her for her abuse of power.
