Vehicle Traffic Hazards in Woolooware Bay Area

Since February 2018, there have been two serious pedestrian accidents involving vehicles "running" red lights at speeds in excess of the current speed limit of 70km, at the traffic lights located on the corner of Foreshore Road and Captain Cook Drive, Woolooware Bay.

With the increase in traffic and activity at Woolooware Bay, residents are witnessing daily traffic breaches at the lights by all types of vehicles.

The existing situation continues to pose major risks of injury or death to Woolooware Bay residents, their visitors and the increasing numbers of cyclists and pedestrians frequenting the area and using the pedestrian crossing in this location.

Support the residents and visitors to this area by requesting that the following action to be undertaken urgently by the RMS:

 1)  Conversion of the existing traffic lights to a red light speed camera facility, with appropriate signage on both approaches along Captain Cook Drive

 2) Reduction of the existing speed limit of 70 kms in that section of Captain Cook Drive to 60 kms
