Moonyah Mealtime Memorandum

Moonyah Mealtime Memorandum
’A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand’
For many of us, breakfast lunch and dinner are pretty important - it gives us routine, reduces hanger and generally just helps keep us alive.
It’s also a chance to catch up with friends & family, relax, unwind and be a little bit social. All good things.
Recently for reasons vaguely justified, residents of Red Hill’s best kept secret - Moonyah Recovery Centre - the decision was made to lock the kitchen on Saturday’s & Sundays and instead issue tupperware containers of leftovers cooked the week before (some as early as Wednesday) - the expectation being that we reheat and eat them in our own quarters. Other options like making a wrap or adding sauce? Too bad sort yourself out.
It goes against what’s preached daily about a healthy diet, social connection, developing routine and hot tip - none of us had a say.
This is our chance to have a say.
a) Reverse the decision completely, open the kitchen and let residents continue to volunteer their time to make lunch and dinner for everyone on weekends, or if this is too hard
b) At the very least reopen the dining area letting us share meals with one another.
Pretty sure it was Jesus who once said - ‘the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’. Have your say, sign and share :)
Thanks legends
