Lyndsay Wishart started this petition to Residents of Willowbrae and

Edinburgh Council have proposed controlled parking zones in Willowbrae North (Queens Park Avenue, Meadowbank Avenue, Meadowbank Crescent, Parsons Green Terrace, Considine Terrace, Lilyhill Terrace, Scone Gardens, Lismore Avenue, Lismore Crescent, Wilfred Terrace, Abercorn Road, Kenmure Avenue, Glenlee Avenue, Glenlee Gardens, Willowbrae Avenue, Willowbrae Road).  This is the link to the consultation https://consultprojectcentre.co.uk/ph2willowbraenorth

Crucially, as well as residents and visitors having to pay to park, the plans will result in an estimated 17% loss of spaces.  There are many families and elderly people who need their cars to get to work or for shopping.  We live on roads that are extremely steep and for some, walking to and from local amenities with bags of heavy shopping is simply not physically possible.  We live close enough to the city centre to either walk in or we are well-served by public transport so the majority of people do not use their cars to travel into the centre of Edinburgh as the parking costs are prohibitive.

We are challenging this proposal as it will mean that the residents of the area will be paying for the 'privilege' of having less places to park their cars, putting many at a disadvantage.

By signing this petition, you will be supporting your local community.  Thank you very much.
