Petition to
Residents of Thornhill Markham Should be Aware Of Changes Coming Shortly To The Community

Why this petition matters

Started by Sue Shillow

Bayview John area is soon to be inundated with multiple high rise condos and apartments. Development is always encouraged but not at the expense of the quality of our community.

Numerous conversations regarding this issue have been had with the Markham Planning Department and our representative on Markham City Council , Keith Irish.

This pledge is on the city of Markham Website. The commitment has to be upheld - for all of us.

“The City of Markham is committed to enhancing and sustaining a unique and vibrant place to live, work, play and invest. It is based on providing quality designed, sustainable communities and developments which reflect and recognize a rich historical legacy”.

Neighbours, let all our voices be heard . Please sign this petition to ask the City to provide proper strategic urban design and planning; to insist that attention be given to keeping our community fabric in line with what we have now, to insist on answers concerning traffic congestion resulting from this construction and last but not least answers to how are existing amenities such as the community centre and library can serve the growth.

What the residents of Thornhill deserve is an integrated community, where transit , schools, recreation areas, community centres , and new developments are planned in a thoughtful manner - respecting the existing heritage sites and our beautiful parklands.

This petition is distributed under the auspices of the Aileen Willowbrook Residents Association.

Please note that the map has been upgraded as new information has become available.
