The Lawrence Trustees will consider a proposal on January 13th to allow the Mayor of the Village of Lawrence to serve more than the current legal limit of three terms in office.
This would break with many decades of precedent in our wonderful Village. A serious matter like this must be put before the public as a referendum under NYS Village Law 9-908.
In regards to such a pivotal issue, it is vital for the citizens of Lawrence to be heard. The present term limit system has served Lawrence well, and if a change is to be made it must be put to a vote.
