TELL RICHMOND HEIGHTS CITY COUNCIL TO RETHINK THROWING OUR KIDS UNDER THE BUS
Richmond Heights City Council will be voting to abate and divert funds that would have otherwise become property taxes on the new development known as Belle Oaks on December 14, 2021. In the state of Ohio, property taxes are the primary means for school districts to provide resources for students. These dollars are used for things like transportation, to pay teacher salaries, and to provide technology to students. In Richmond Heights residents have been supportive of the effort to sustain our schools so that our kids are afforded a quality education by passing a fair number of tax levies in recent history.
Richmond Heights City Council will hurt our students, and stifle progress as well as the relationship between our schools and residents, by voting yes to give the billionaire developer of the Belle Oaks Project nearly $60M in tax incentives for more than 30 years. In most communities boards of education and city councils work together to get a deal that's fair for both the city and the schools, but most importantly for the residents who are footing the bill.
Tell Richmond Heights City Council to stop and rethink the Belle Oaks Project deal. Let them know that Richmond Heights is not a community who allows billionaire developers to rob our kids and then ask residents to make up the difference in the long run. Students deserve better. Residents deserve to be heard. Sign and share today.
