Proposed 2020 Millage Rate increase is solely to correct misappropriated funds over the past 4 years and outstanding vendor bills for a similar period.
Millage rate was previously increased in 2015 to correct similar issue yet the outstanding balance was not resolved by millage rate increase.   This Millage rate increase translates as a loan to the City of Porterdale instead of an increase in services offered to the residents of Porterdale

Based on increase in county assessment values, home owners, especially those under 65, have already seen an increase of their tax bills, and their monthly household budget.

The City Council of Porterdale needs to keep the millage rate as it is, until there is full disclosure on misappropriations, and the corrective actions in place to avoid this issue in the future.

Residents require:

1. Not increase Millage Rate for 2020

2. Put millage rate increase on November 2020 ballot

3. Disclose all misappropriated funds

4.  Disclose alternate options to correct this oversight, including the possibility of Chapter 11 reorganization

5.   Review the option for bringing a Newton County Police Precinct to City of Porterdale
