Port Royal Plantation was never a plantation, and the use of the term plantation has connotations and associations that are inconsistent with our values as a community and with the island of Hilton Head. Dropping the term Plantation from our name, and simply referring to the Port Royal Community would better reflect what we are as a community, and what we aspire to be.
