BAN SMOKING IN ATLANTIC CITY CASINOS

BAN SMOKING IN ATLANTIC CITY CASINOS
Why this petition matters
In 2006 The state of New Jersey enacted legislation banning smoking in public places with the exception of the casinos in Atlantic City. The casino workers healthcare was secondary to casino profits. Not only indoors was smoking banned, but the beach and boardwalk as well. We now find that smoking will now resume during the COVID pandemic with the governor considering it safe. Once again the safety and well-being of casino workers will take a back seat to corporate profits. This madness has to end sometime before many become sick due to how the disease spreads by water vapor droplets from individuals coughing. Governor Murphy who initially kept citizens safe and minimized the spread by enforcing strict mandates for individuals to wear masks has now suddenly done a 180. He has now decided (unscientifically) that smoking would be safe, this would make no sense at all since smoking indoors would require individuals to lower or completely take off their masks. This is a complete contradiction of the mask in place rule and further demonstrates the complete influence that casino corporations can influence our state government. We as casino workers are completely dumbfounded that this governor who we thought was finally looking out for us in the end let us down as have all the previous administrations have done
