The Complete Combatant started this petition to Residents of Lumpkin County and

The shooting sports are an integral part of Americana, but unfortunately many of our live fire ranges are under pressure to close. Our small private outdoor range is nestled in a hill, in the middle of 48 acres, and it is facing a similar crisis.

By signing this petition, you are asking that Lumpkin County hear YOUR wishes to lift the STOP on our live fire class and allow The Complete Combatant to get back to what we do best, teaching for sport and for self defense.

My name is Brian Hill and my wife, Shelley and I are owners of The Complete Combatant in Dahlonega, GA. We have been shooting on this agricultural zoned property for recreation and/or through our business since the day it was purchased by loved ones over 10 years ago. Our range is NOT for public use. It is NOT a club. We have ZERO members. It is ONLY for our friends and family's personal enjoyment and for The Complete Combatant's students to attend private lessons and live fire classes once or twice a month. The Complete Combatant’s students range from beginners, to intermediate, to advanced. We train Law Enforcement officers, teens and the average citizens “Joe and Jane”. We believe that if you are your own first responder, then you are responsible for a wide array of skill sets. Seeing, recognizing, and believing danger is the first task. Having a plan for avoidance, deselection and escalation is the second task. If these fail, the fight is on, and it must be won. The first time you have to use the different levels of force, and everything is on the line, you need to have the skillset and the knowledge to do so. We practice your non-lethal, less then lethal, and lethal options. Our outdoor learning and firearm center provides an extremely safe environment to learn, acquire, and practice these valuable (and sometimes lifesaving) skills.

Our neighbors on Porter Springs Road complained to the County about the live fire noise coming from our range so the County immediately shut down the live fire portion of our business until a hearing was set. On Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 we had a meeting with the Commissioners of Lumpkin County. Many things were discussed but we thought the MAIN focus was to confirm that we met the Zoning and Planning requirements to add a "Special Land Use" in addition to the already zoned 28 agricultural acres. We met every requirement which lead us to believe that Lumpkin County would grant us permission to resume classes. However, that is not the case, apparently there is still a “VOTE”.

We have offered concessions like omitting rifle and shotgun classes, no live fire classes from Thanksgiving-New Years, no shooting before 9am or after 6pm, and a few others. BUT the big one is that we will add additional sound reducing systems on our range. We want to be GOOD neighbors.

There is no "noise ordinance" in Lumpkin County. The closest neighbor is 340 yards from the range through a North GA mountain and many trees but in a effort to “keep the peace” we are willing to make changes to our range. The HIGHEST decibel that we recorded was 69 and that was across the street with a hill and trees in between the range and the road.

We are willing to place 12 foot panels, plus add noise reducing foam and panels under our shooting cover and will add sound proof “blankets’ to the outside of the structure. We are also investing in Evergreens and planting these already 6 foot tall trees to specific areas they may help with noise reduction as well.

We MUST use our voice. We MUST NOT allow the hectors to have louder voices than us. We MUST stand up and NOT let people push their own agendas onto us. We have every right to not only shoot recreationally on our land but since we have met the Planning and Zoning requirement, we should be able to run our small business there as well.

We are asking that you sign this petition to show you are IN SUPPORT of Lumpkin County, GA reinstating The Complete Combatant’s live fire portion of their business. Please consider sharing this petition with your friends and family across this great nation.
