Take the Pledge: I will go Meatless Monday For a Healthier State!
Take the pledge to reduce your consumption and make a real impact! By eating just one plant-based meal one day a week, you could save up to 15 showers worth of water, 20 bread loaves worth of grain, and you could save the energy it takes to power 64 100-Watt lightbulbs for 1 hour. That's a big impact!
Animal agriculture puts a huge strain on our planet's resources, bigger than virtually any other single industry. Huge quantities of water are needed to raise livestock: it takes 2,464 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. By comparison, 25 gallons of water are used to produce 1 pound of wheat. We care about our water!
Grazing animals also require more 160 times more land than most crops and is the leading cause of rapid deforestation and desertification. We care about our land!
Eating less meat and more fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and healthy fats has been widely documented to prevent heart disease, the number one cause of death in Indiana. We care about our health!
Lastly, animal agriculture is affecting our whole planet, from the oceans to the atmosphere. The huge quantities of waste and enormous amounts of greenhouse gas emissions put us in jeopardy of destroying many ecosystems. We care about our earth!
We care about making a positive change that will benefit not only our own health and safety, but leave a lasting legacy to future generations. Help us and go #meatlessmonday by taking one day a week to reduce your strain on the system and eat meat-less meals.
Please use the #meatlessmonday tag and the image on this petition as your profile photo to show your commitment and support for the pledge.
