Rezoning 2021-00002567/ Dollar General Appeal Hearing

Rezoning 2021-00002567/ Dollar General Appeal Hearing
The Glandon Forest Equity, LLC, is attempting to appeal the decision made on 10/05/2021 by the Randolph County zoning board. The reason for the appeal is the owner of Glandon Forest Equity, George T. Barnes Jr, wasn't able to make the original hearing date.
Their plan is build a Dollar General in the Grays Chapel area and have the 5.00 acres on Hwy 22N rezoned from RA -Residential Agricultural District to HC-CD -Highway Commercial -Conditional District. The retail store would be developed on parcel #7795233740.
Citizens within the community have expressed concerns regarding heavy traffic due to location within the school zone, the large quantity of Dollar Generals within a 10 mile radius (there are currently 6), property depreciation of surrounding homes, safety due to unlit parking lots and cleanliness of inside and outside facilities, crime, tobacco/alcohol sales directly across from the school, and single road access (only road frontage on NC Hwy 22N).
This property would be better suited for agricultural use such as crops, pasture or community garden.
Please help the Grays Chapel area be Dollar General Free! Say NO to Dollar General! Help us by signing the petition and showing up Monday November 15th at 6pm in the old county court house. 145 Worth St, Asheboro, NC
