Resolution Adopting Term Limits in the City of Clifton
*For Registered Voters in the City of Clifton County of Passaic New Jersey
Whereas we as the residents of the City of Clifton have grown tired of the same officials running for the same office.
Whereas the residents of the City of Clifton seek to curb the possible corruption, incompetence and possible advancement of personal agendas by adapting Term Limits in the City of Clifton New Jersey County of Passaic.
Whereas the Term Limits will be set to limit the time, a person can serve as a council member in the City of Clifton, and to change the current statue to eliminate health and death benefits to past and future council members.
Whereas the residents of Clifton will use their power of referendum to enact its own laws to limit the time a person(s) can serve as a council member(s) and eliminate health and death benefits entirely.
Whereas no person(s) who has served more than two (2) consecutive terms will no longer be allowed to run for a third term until sitting out for a period of two (2) terms to allow new council members to bring in fresh ideas into the City of Clifton.
Furthermore, we look to eliminate entirely all the current health and death benefits provided to current and past council members. Their service to the City of Clifton will not be compensated in any form of health or death benefits.
Whereas the residents of the City of Clifton, NJ have been jaded by the current election process and manipulation of the election process and we the citizens of the City of Clifton seek to act to protect our city from political influence and possible abuse from outside forces. And elect people who will address pressing issues of our town that we the people feel are currently being mismanaged or ignored by the current city council member(s).
This ordinance if approved will take effect in the November 2018 elections and implemented as the State Board of Elections see fit.
