Debbie Woods started this petition to Residents of Bayside

Bayside Council have plans to bulldoze 25 established gum trees in a local Hampton ground level carpark. These trees attract an abundance of bird life to the Hampton precinct. The carpark allows easy to access for older residents and young families alike. The ground level carpark maintains the ‘village feel’ of Hampton.

The building of a multi level ( at least three levels) of concrete will destroy the aesthetic of this streetscape. There are other areas a commuter carpark can be built that won’t destroy 25 mature trees.

We don’t want Hampton to look like Chadstone shopping centre, a high rise concrete jungle. This petition is to do with Council’s general lack of regard for what local Bayside residents really want.

Residents wish to conserve our green spaces and control the ridiculous overdevelopment of a beautiful sea side suburb.

Bayside Council has generally disregarded the wants of rate payers over the revenue it gains from mega developments.

This is what has forced me to fight for the trees!

In the words of The Lorax, “I speak for the trees for the trees have no voice.” We need to value our green and peaceful spaces.

Please sign this petition to save this established treed carpark.
