Jacob Schmitt started this petition to Residents in Posey County

On February 11th at 6 p.m. there will be a meeting held at the Hovey House in Mt. Vernon to turn the field of 38.5 acres on the corner of Downen Rd. and 66 from an agricultural zone to a High Intensity commercialized zone. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting.

The current owners of the property state that the intentions are for a body shop/towing yard, and other future developments for the property. There are other places in Posey County that are much more suitable for this type of loud environment.

The curve on Highway 66 near the entrance of Downen Rd. is very treacherous and is known to have taken lives. It is no place for an entrance of any type of business.

The proposed development would have a great effect on the amount of water shed from the property. The surrounding area has an already failed and undersized drainage infrastructure under the highway and along the east side of said highway. Approval of this zoning would add additional water issues than those that already exist. Example being, flooded intersection, ditch erosion, state highway erosion, and water intrusion onto neighboring homeowners properties.

The residents of Wadesville enjoy the rural feeling of Posey County, for this reason very many Vanderburgh County residents are seeking homes here. Home values will plummet if this zoning is approved. There are other strong issues that will be presented to support the fact that the rezoning is a negative for this area of the community.

Please sign this petition, and help keep Wadesville rural. Thank you!
