The PTA RUGBY CLUB in Totius Street, Groenkloof (Ward 59) may have hosted an event tonight, Friday the 5th of March 2021, that caused massive noise and nuisance in the suburb, with cars revving, spinning their wheels and racing on and out of the sports club / sports facility, as well as up and down Totius Street in Groenkloof.

This is unacceptable and several residents had to endure the non-ending noise and nuisance of these activities. Residents from Lucasrand, Muckleneuk and Groenkloof registered their complaints with the Ward 59 Cllr, as well as reporting these activities to the SAPS and the City of Tshwane TMPD.

This petition is to request that the TMPD and SAPS decline all future events of this nature at this location. As the Ward Cllr. I have supported, endorsed and encouraged the Car Boot Sale and the Local Market that is hosted at the Club as well as the sports events that take place, but regrettably the event this evening, and events of this nature, do absolutely nothing to maintain the harmony of the neighborhood.

The lack of concern and consideration for the local residents, stakeholders and other Tshwane citizens is intolerable. Notwithstanding the Covid-19 Pandemic and Lockdown Level-1 Protocols and Regulations, has prompted this petition against event and any other activity that encourages and promotes noise, nuisance and a compromise to the health, happiness and well-being of the community.

The apparent lack of safety measures, and the possible absence of a JOC Application further exacerbates this issue.

The petition will be presented to the Municipality in due course and the Management of the PTA RUGBY CLUB will be afforded the opportunity to defend themselves, as is their Democratic and Constitutional Right.

To be continued...
