Dear Family Dollar:

My name is Amanda and I am from Bronson, Florida. Your corporation is currently buying a piece of property and planning to build a store in the worst possible place in not only our small town, but the very heart of our rural county.

We have a beautiful brick courthouse, a red brick Levy County historical society and a red brick long-time family owned title company in a small square -- and you plan to build a Family Dollar merely feet from these beautiful and historical buildings. Not only that, your store will be very, very close to a long-time resident of our town and close to both the Baptist and Methodist churches in town.

Besides this affront to our special historical buildings, our small town roads were not built for the semis bringing in your stock or to accommodate the traffic your store could possibly bring.

The thing is, I know that you are aware of all these items mentioned above, but likely have no intention of changing your plans. There are parcels on both ends of town and very likely toward the middle that you could purchase that would at least not be right there, within the triangle of our county seat and most beloved courthouse.

I have no problem with progress. The town has changed a great deal in my lifetime. We have many buildings that were not around when I was a kid. What was around was the courthouse. There is construction going on at the red light right now. That's an appropriate place. Right next to the courthouse is not.

So, if I cannot implore upon the Family Dollar Corp. to choose another piece of property in this one red-light town, I can let you know that I vow to never set foot in your store nor ever purchase anything from Family Dollar in Bronson, FL if it is indeed built next to our Courthouse. Everyone else signing this petition agrees to this as well. Thank you.
