This petition is intended to gather signatures of those interested in the creation of a before school program at the Takoma Park Recreation Center in an effort to make childcare more accessible to all.

Affordable childcare programs are extremely difficult to find in the Washington, DC area. Fortunately, Takoma Park offers morning and afternoon programs at the Takoma Park Community Center. However, the program at the Community Center is exceptionally difficult to access due to a long wait list and various transportation difficulties.

Let's demonstrate to the Mayor and Councilmembers that there is a significant need for additional affordable before school programs throughout the city which will help balance equity-based concerns. If enough signatures are collected, perhaps our City leaders will consider adding additional funds to this year's budget to allow for the creation of a before care program at the Recreation Center.
