Residents demand on street parking during the Commonwealth Games

The Gold Cost City Council has blocked off many streets and restricted parking in the Surfers, Broadbeach and Southport areas for the Commonwealth Games. But here's the downside, Council has refused to allow local residents to park their cars in their own streets 24/7 for the entire month surrounding the Games, that is from 19 March to 17 April. Most of our suburban streets have units with one off street car park but 2 or more residents.

By removing the on street parking the Council are impacting residents from living their day to day lives, most residents commute each day with their cars due to the lack of adequate public transport and they drive home from work. By removing on street parking the Council is restricting our ability to work, to have family visit and for access to older residents who rely on aged care services at home.

If you are not a resident you are not going to get access. If you park in your own street YOU WILL BE TOWED says GCCC.

Tom Tate says...walk...or take a holiday...are you for real Tom ??? The workforce is casual or contractors here on the Gold Coast. Tom...we cant just take time off and if we could..it would be during a time of our choice.

We invite you to join in our protest against 24/7 parking restrictions to the residents who live in the suburbs.

We demand our streets back.

Help us keep our streets by signing this petition and send a message to Council that they do not have the power to remove our parking and visitor access to our own streets. Council works for us dont they??
