Not allowing Visitors or guests inside the residence halls at NHTI is killing students mental health. Having to take classes online is already ruining students social lives and making many depressed. Guests should be allowed in residence halls if they are screened for COVID 19 symptoms before entering the building just as all the residents were on move in day. Students should be able to practice social distancing and still see their friends so they they do not get depressed.

Many state run schools and private schools in the state are allowing visitors in the halls as well as allowing residents that live in the same resident hall to socialize in their rooms. When moving onto campus all residents are screened for COVID symptoms. this should be the procedure for allowing guests in the building. Before entering any building they should be required to have their temperature taken and then screened for symptoms. Instead of doing this the residents of NHTI are only allowed to have one other resident in their rooms at a time and are threatened with being sent home of we do not comply. When all residents use the same bathrooms hallways bubblers doors and common areas it should not matter how many of us are in one room because we are all exposed to each other all day long because we live together. At a bare minimum we should be allowed to see more of our friends because it is good for our mental health to socialize and not live in fear of ruining school for everyone that lives there. In the state of NH there are currently less that 400 active cases of COVID 19 out of a total population of 1.3 million. This means that about 0.01% of the population currently has COVID so why are we not allowed to see our friends if we all agree to wear masks and everyone is screened for symptoms.

The restrictions put in Place at NHTI are excessive and much to harsh and is creating a hostile living situation where the student body feels held captive by the school.
