Even in the lowest of the class/ caste it is the woman at the lowest position. Dalit women are one of the largest socially segregated groups anywhere in the world. They are discriminated against three times over: they are poor, they are women, and they are Dalits. Indian women are the ones who need all the assistance that is available to uplift them in the society.

This petition is to demand that henceforth all extensions, renewals, creations and implementations of any kind of reservation should be available only to the women of that caste/community.

While men are getting together to demand more reservations for themselves whether or not they belong to any underprivileged community/caste be it the Patidar community or the Marathas,  33%  reservation for women in Lok Sabha is a still a distant dream. The women’s reservation bill took 14 years to get approval from Rajya Sabha and is still not applicable to Lok Sabha.

As per the Economic |Survey 2018 report ‘Women in Politics 2017 (IPU & UN)’, the Lok Sabha had 64 (11.8 per cent of 542 MPs) and the Rajya Sabha had 27 (11 per cent of 245 MPs) women MPs (Members of Parliament), despite the fact that 48.5 % of population is women.

As on October 2016, out of the total 4,118 MLAs across the country, only 9 per cent were women.  Even developing countries like Rwanda, have more than 60 per cent women representatives in Parliament in 2017.

The Labor Force Participation Rate for Women Is One of the Lowest in the World-28.5%  compared to 82% for men in 2017.* Women earn 62% of what their male colleagues earn for performing the same work. For example casual labourer in the most populas state UP Rs (5 for female and Rs 137/- for male.

According to Economic Survey 2018: In the case of India, the gender gap in labour force participation rate is more than 50 percentage points,” said the survey tabled by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Parliament. The survey observed that women workers are the most disadvantaged in the labour market as they constitute a very high proportion among the low skilled informal worker category, and are engaged in low-productivity and low paying work. Owing to this, it said that the women earn very low wages, mostly piece rates in highly insecure jobs. India had the largest gender gap in median earnings of full time employees in 2015, in comparison to countries like South Africa, Brazil, and Chile, it added. The survey also stressed for political empowerment of women saying their representation in Parliament and in decision making roles in public sphere is one of the key indicators of empowerment.***
