Many other colleges and universities have taken it upon themselves to go above the provincial health organization's covid-19 safety protocols for returning to campus and have implemented the requirement to either register proof of vaccinations, or have students be tested weekly in order attend their on-campus classes, and have been successful at reducing or eliminating the risk of transmission on campus. 

Douglas College only requires students perform daily Self Assessments, which is proven to not be 100% effective as there is always someone who thinks their education or social life is more important than the health of those around them.

If Douglas would implement the same measures and require students to either declare their vaccination status, or require weekly testing in order for students to attend classes on campus, it is obvious that this will drastically reduce the risk of attending classes on campus, and improve the overall level of safety and education for their students.

I'm asking my fellow students, faculty and staff to let Douglas know that we want these measures implemented in order to keep our community safe, healthy and informed, while continuing our education and work in a responsible manner proven to be effective.
