Demand FDA Increase Oversight and Regulation for Cosmetic & Personal Care Product Safety

Demand FDA Increase Oversight and Regulation for Cosmetic & Personal Care Product Safety
Why this petition matters

The U.S. is facing a cosmetic crisis!
Cosmetics aren't just makeup and fragrances - they include everyday products like shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, and more. Many of these products contain hazardous chemicals that can lead to health issues such as birth defects, cancer, and hormonal disruption. I personally suffered a chemical reaction from a popular hair brand, and I'm not alone - over 70,000 victims have reported similar issues.
The problem is, the FDA doesn't have the power to mandate recalls of harmful products. Additionally, the FDA doesn't require pre-market safety testing of ingredients in personal care products. The FDA relies on cosmetic companies to self-regulate, which isn't enough.
We need to demand changes. The FDA should have the right to enforce recalls, mandate cosmetic testing, inspect manufacturing and distribution centers, and require warning labels on harmful ingredients.
We need Congress to redefine the FDA's role in regulating cosmetics. Join us in taking action against this cosmetic crisis!
FDA:
“The law does not require cosmetic products and ingredients, other than color additives, to have FDA approval before they go on the market.”
